Biography

Richard trained at the Young Vic and the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.

As Director: A Kid Like Jake (TS Eliot US/UK Exchange, Old Vic Theatre), The Welsh Atlantis (Latitude Festival), The Hour of Feeling (HighTide Festival), The Boy Who Lived Down the Lane (Riverside Studios & Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Singapore), Unclothed (London’s Little Opera House), Women and Please Be Patient While You Love Me (New Britannia Theatre – Rehearsed Readings). During training: The Pillowman, One for the Road and The Secrets Inside (Edinburgh Fringe).

As Assistant Director: Clockwork (HighTide Festival), Island (National Theatre), Jack and the Beanstalk (Watford Palace Theatre), Four Nights in Knaresborough (Southwark Playhouse), The Marriage of Figaro (The Watermill Theatre), Lakeboat and Prairie du Chien (Arcola Theatre), The Machine Gunners (Polka Theatre), Double Falsehood (The Union Theatre & New Players Theatre – West End Transfer & TimeOut Critics Choice), The Captive (Finborough Theatre) and The Great British Country Fete (The Bush Theatre & National Tour). During training include Angels in America Part One: Milennium Approaches, Les Liasons Dangereuses, Sweet Charity and 3 Sisters on Hope Street. Workshops include The Changeling, After Miss Julie (Young Vic), Island and Jacob’s Death (NT Studio).

Richard is Resident Assistant Director for HighTide Festival Theatre and a Visiting Director at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
